According to Mouser the BMA253 is not recommended for new designs. I wasn't able to find any more information about EOL of this part.
- Are there plans to end the production of the part?
- Is there/will there be a drop-in replacement?
Unfortunately the sales department only mentioned that the part "...will not be going EoL in the next 1-2 years." Our product lifecycle is 5+ years.

Hello TobiW,
For BMA253, pin 11(PS) is protocol selection pin. So pin 10(CSB) could be DNC for I2C connection.
For BMA456, pin 10(CSB) is protocol selection pin.

Thank you for the reply. I know that pin 10 can be left floating if I use the the I2C interface on the BMA253, but can it be set to VDDIO as well? This would make my circuit compatible with other sensors. Otherwise I would have to add a jumper resistor.

Hello TobiW,
If you would like to compatible with other sensors, you could set pin 10(CSB) to VDDIO, but it couldn't be connected to GND.

Thank you very much for the reply. I will keep the BMA253 in the design and connect pin 10 to VDDIO. If the BMA253 is no longer available I can easily switch to another sensor with suitable specs.
