We use your sensor BME280 with metallic lid for our products to capture temperature, pressure and humidity. We have made an electronic circuit and produced a prototype series with the adapted PCB. We want to protect our circuit, including the sensor; so that high humidity (especially in high range of humidity when it is a condensing environment) cannot damage our circuit components and the sensor. We think of PCB conformal coating so I have some regarding questions below:
1) Do you have any recommendation while applying PCB conformal coating? How should we handle coating without affecting the sensor? Which type and method of coating do you recommend?
2) I have read through the BME280’s HSMI manual, how can we better protect the sensor if we cannot apply conformal coating on the sensor? Do you have any suggestion for the sensor protection to resist such condensing environment? Which types of protection can be applied at sensor level and device level?
3) Can we apply membrane directly to the sensor; if yes, which type of membrane should we use?
We’re not responsible for waterproof design, membrane selection & evaluation.
And we only consider how to integrate waterpoof protection applied at sensor level.
