BME688 Parallel Mode

I understand that the BME688 Parallel mode will keep the heater on during transitions from one step to the next up to 10 steps. My question is what happens to the heater after the last step of a paralle mode scan? Will the heater remain at the temperature of the last step until further instructed or will it go into Sleep mode or something else.

If configure BME688 to parallel mode, sensor will not automatically return to sleep mode.
