BMI160 Initialization in Freefall or > 1 G

We have an application where the BMI160 sensor can see a range of accelerations (~0g to ±5g) depending on the orientation and dynamics of the system. In all of our testing to date, the sensor has been initialized in static 1 g conditions and then after start-up will continuously operate in 0g to ±5g without issue.

On start-up are any integrity checks performed that are expecting the sensor to be reading 1 g? In other words, are there steps in the internal initialization process of the sensor that would stop it from initializing in less than 1 g or greater than 1 g environments?

The 1G value is to do quick check if sensor is intialized correctly or not. 

Actually 1G is gravity value of earth.  when device is still, and one axis is align to the gravity direction.  then you will always see 1G on this axis read out.

But sensor is still OK to get higher value than 1G if you select the proper range of acceleration.
