BMI270 I2C SCL at 1.7MHz

We have a BMI270 IMU as a slave device to a processor that can only produce 170kHz, 670kHz, and 1.7MHz on the SCL line in its current configuration. The datasheet specifies the BMI270 supports speeds up to 1MHz, but we are seeing successful communication at 1.7MHz. Is there a substantial risk in running the SCL rate this high?

BMI270 supports I2C clock frequency speeds up to 1MHz. We have not tested the clock frequency beyond the spec of 1.7MHz and cannot guarantee its stability.
