BMM 150 Z-axis Hall sensor

Hi

I'm trying to measure a micro-level magnetic particle with the BMM 150 by directly placing it on top of the sensor.

to understand better how the Z-axis (Hall sensor) performs when the object we are trying to detect is off-axis vs on-axis and the distance etc.

could you please tell me whether there is a variation in sensitivity within the Z-axis sensing area?

I'm interested in finding out the information on the variation/drop-off of the output with respect to the following:

1. Angle of the object away from its ideal position (with constant distance i.e. radial position variation).

2. Distance of the object away from its ideal position (when the object is centimetres away from the sensor).

3. Distance of object away from its ideal position (when the object is millimetres away from the sensor i.e. very close proximity)

4. Are there any dead zones or areas of varying insensitivity including any dead zones based on angle etc.?

Thanks for your inquiry.

According to BMM150 datasheet Table 3 on page 13, when BMM150 is configured to high accuracy preset the RMS noise of x/y/z axis is 0.3uT. This means that any magnetic field change on z axis more than 0.3uT will be detected and measured by BMM150. If the object is not directly on BMM150 z axis, then there will be a projection component on BMM150 z axis from the object. There is no dead zone or dead angle for BMM150 x/y/z axes. You may try to see if BMM150 z axis can detect the object or not by using BMM150 shuttle board and APP3.0 base board and DD2.0 GUI SW.
