Hi Experts
Would immersing the BMP390 pressure sensor temporarily into water kill it?
The sensor will be soldered onto a PCB board and the board will be conformally coated
Would water entering the sensing point kill it?
Regards

As per data sheet over pressure survivability is 2000Kpa. so exposure to water pressure is not going to kill the device. but will it die electrically?

Hello mahivarma,
Could we know what is your end product type? Could you describe the application scenario in detail? Such as immersion depth, immersion time, etc.

Dear Bst Robin
the sensor will be part of a single board PCB sensor module. in certain situations, during deployment, the sensor module would be dropped into water. the device is expected to bounce back on to surface within minutes, let us say a maximum of 10 minutes. for this 10 minutes period, the module could be submerged up to 5m deep in water. the sensor will be subjected to water pressure but it is not expected to measure it accurately. once it bounces back and is exposed to atmospheric pressure we expect the sensor to continue to operate as normal.
do you think the presence of a layer of water on the sensor would affect the measurement?

Hello mahivarma,
BMP390 pressure sensor is not a water-proof sensor, so can not be dipped into water directly.
BMP390 Moisture Sensitivity Level is MSL1.
