We are currently developing a product which includes the Bosch BMP390 pressure sensor.
During our first proto series we manufactured 35 boards for verification and tests. All 35 boards included a Bosch BMP390 temperature sensor.
During tests, two of the 35 sensors showed a short between Vdd and Vss after being soldered to the boards. X-ray analysis of the PCBA showed that the short was not caused by soldering underneath the sensor. We removed the sensors from the defective boards and measured resistance between the supply pins. A low ohmic (+/- 1 ohm) connection was found between Vdd and Vss.
Are there any known issues regarding the findings described above? In addition I read through the Handling, Soldering and Mounting instructions aas given by Bosch and mentioned that quite delicate handling instructins are given when using pick and place machines. Is there any possible link between the found issues and rough handling?

Each BMP390 is calibrated, trimmed and tested in Bosch factory before shipping to the market. This means that it is not possible that BMP390 has VDD and VSS short issue. Please send a private message to me and let me know your company email address and physical address. Our local FAE (field application engineer) will contact you to get the 2 pieces of BMP390 failure parts from you. We will then do failure analysis for the root cause.
