I think there is a mistake on the bmx055 datasheet. In all the "Electrical Behaviour" sections, last sentence is repeated. What are the considerations in each case (open-drive, push-pull)?
And why is it so important not to connect INT pins if unused?

Yes, the last sentence in this chapter is repeated. Actually, we want to indicate when open drain is selected, then external pull up / pull down register is mandatory. For push-pull there is no such requirement.
We recommend not to connect the INT pin when it is not used because we want to avoid the use to configure the INT pin status wrongly. It will cause the current leakage or affect the correct behavior of interrupt in system level.
