We are looking into integrating an electronic compass into our system.
After testing the BNO055, it appears, that the system cannot be used in a completely static scenario, if absolute heading is necessary directly after system start-up. Let me explain:
In our scenario, it is necessary, that the system can be calibrated in fab or another suitable location and can then provide reliable absolute (!) heading data directly after system start-up, without moving or rotating the system what so ever.
The problem with the BNO055 in this scenario is, that even though the sensor is configured with calibration data (which was stored when the calibration status was all 3s) and some absolute-heading fusion mode, the heading is mostly zero or way off (~100 degrees and more) until the system is moved and rotated a bit.
Is there a sensor solution from Bosch that is suitable to our scenario?
Thanks and all the best!

Is my concern or a part of my question unclear? I am happy to provide additional information on our scenario if that helps answering my question.

Hi DRA,
BNO055 was not recommended for new design.
You can choose the combination of BHI260AP and mag(BMM150) for your application.
