Response time of BME680 of brand new Sensor

Hi, I was looking to the datasheet of BME 680, At page : 8|60 in Table 2: Gas sensor parameter specification, and I was unable to get understand on the Response time (brand new sensor) in different modes of operation of BME 680 sensor, So if you could help me to understand of this concept, like what exactly this means.

You could see the comment 2 in data sheet: Response time of unsoldered, brand-new sensors extracted from the sensors’ resistance change in response to a 0.6–60 ppm step of EtOH and a 0.5–15 ppm step of b-VOC at 20 °C, 50% r.H. and atmospheric pressure.
