I'm working on projects related to orientation estimation.
Bosch, TDK and ST provide many low-cost and high accurate MEMS IMUs for selection.
Recently, I found it seems most of 9-dof IMU are obsolete, but 6-dof IMU are still available.
Now the most popular 9-dof IMU sensor for Bosch is BNO055, and ICM20948 for TDK.
As I know, magnetometer(although suffers enviromental interference) still serves to calibrate the absolute angle drift.
I'm wondering why product like BMX160 is obsolete, or if 6-dof is already enough for most of application?
Thank you!

Hi YENLIN,
The new 9-axis sensor is already in preparation. At present, IMU sensor + MAG sensor can meet 9-axis applications.

Dear sir, thanks for your reply!
I'm still wondering is there any issue on the previous product like BMX160?
Is Bosch planning to integrate local processor for data processing or machine learning purpose?
Thank you!

Hi YENLIN,
There is no issue with BMX160. The new 9-axis product will use a new semiconductor process.
BHI260AP had integrated processor and machine learning, https://www.bosch-sensortec.com/products/smart-sensors/ai-sensor-systems/
