funcionality of BME280 temperature sensor

Hi everyone,
my name is Felix Pflieger and i'm writing my bachelor thesis about a track and trace system. I'm using the BME280 temperature sensor. In the datasheet i can see that the pressure is measured by a membran but i can't find how the temperature sensor is acting. Weather it's an NTC or PTC-thermistor or something else. Could you tell me the technical functionallity of the temperature sensor?

BMP280 is digital pressure sensor, not measure temperature.
