minimum distance between heat source and BME280?

Hello,

technical question. Is there any minimal distance in which BME280 won't be affected by external heat source?

(indeed it depends on amount of heat, but let's talk about regular charger and microcontroler)

I have some usb charger and ESP-01S and BME280 is picking up +5degrees even 2cm away. Indeed 10cm is enough, but then whole instalation is not nice and tidy.

Can be some heat "shield" used, as my sensor is facing other way so it must pickup heat from back of the charger somehow. Any recommendations are welcomed.

Hi kriznik,

Have you already looked into a "moat" to isolate the heat conducted through the PCB? Seeedstudio has a grove breakout for the BME280 that does something similar.

no, thanks for tip.

but it does look like my gap is much more bigger than this ... 

ytd. I placed another sensor like 5mm away from this one, and still difference between those two was about 3.6°C and 19% humidity. So I guess this sensor is malfunctioning anyway ;/
