I'm working on projects related to orientation estimation. Bosch, TDK and ST provide many low-cost and high accurate MEMS IMUs for selection. Recently, I found it seems most of 9-dof IMU are obsolete, but 6-dof IMU are still available. Now the most popular 9-dof IMU sensor for Bosch is BNO055, and ICM20948 for TDK. As I know, magnetometer(although suffers enviromental interference) still serves to calibrate the absolute angle drift. I'm wondering why product like BMX160 is obsolete, or if 6-dof is already enough for most of application? Thank you!
