BME680 on raspberry pi with c code

I am having issues running the example code for the bme 680 c code it just wont compile/run, the sensor works as i have managed to use the sensor with the python examples. i am trying to create a program that reads the sensor values at intervals and saves this to a file but i cant start until i get the example working. any help or example code would be much appreciated
