BMO055 heading in nautical application

Hello, I have  tested a breakout named CMPS12, the heart of which being  BNO055, as a replacement of a little magnetic compass in an autopilot for a sailing boat.  The add of CMPS 12 is just to facilitate the communication with the BMO055. The lot works very well at home but is seriously affected by the waves in navigation, as predictibly announced in notes 1,2 and 3 under « fusion mode » in the data sheet of the BNO055.  Someone told me it was because of permanent auto-calibration, others say the accelerometer is perturbated by the waves, but I am not shure of that.

OK, the BNO055 is not directly built for a nautical application, but as I only need a heading ,  what about the selection of non fusion mode /AMG or MAGGYRO? Or may be other Sensor Configuration, which are numerous and not well uderstood by me !

Someone would tell me if my idea can work or not (or what could be the solution, if any)? Thanks in advance!
