Provide drill hole on the PCB where the BME688 has its vent hole?

Hello,

I am building my own PCB design for my bachelor thesis. On my board layout will be also a BME688.

The BME688 has a ventilation hole. Do I have to provide a drill hole on the PCB at the place where the BME has its vent hole?

Does such a drill hole have advantages or disadvantages?

To help with my question, I have attached pictures.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your inquiry.

You don't need to drill a hole on your PCB for BME688.

In the Top View of the picture below the hole is the vent hole on the lid of BME688 sensor itself. In the Bottom View of the picture below the dot is actually a metal pad on BME688 bottom for pin#1 indicator. That is not a hole and you don't need to make a pad on your PCB for it.

Thanks.
