BME280 maximum rating pressure

Hi,

After reading the datasheet of BME280 sensor, I have some questions on the absolute maximum rating pressure. It shows on the datasheet that the operation pressure range is 300~1100hPa and the absolute maximum rating pressure is 20000hPa.

• If I understand correctly, the absolute maximum rating pressure here is overpressure, correct? Does that mean this sensor can withstand this pressure 20000hPa without affecting any function or compromising subsequent measurements after going back to operation pressure range?
• It seems BME280 is a piezo-resistive MEMS sensor, and the maximum rating pressure is ~20X maximum operation pressure. This is quite high for a piezo-resistive MEMS sensor. Could you please share me some info how this high number of maximum rating pressure achieved or tested?
• Is there a specification of burstpressure of BME280?

Hi Al_Lv,

The sensor can withstand the pressure of 20000hPa without being damaged. At this time, the sensor cannot output data within the normal range(300~1100 hPa). The test is carried out in a sealed chamber with a pressure of 20000hPa applied.
