Hello,
I have an application question regarding BME280.
Within the datasheet and accompanying Handling, soldering & mounting instructions; it is mentioned that no liquids should come in direct contact with the device. Do these units come with a standard cap (cover) on the tape and reel package? How is protection of the BME280 handled during standard PCBA wash process?

Hi DTS_User_PM,
There is no additional standard cap (cover) in the tape and reel package of BME280.
Whether to clean PCBA depends on the cleanliness of the soldering process.
If cleaning PCBA, it is recommended to apply a film on the opening of BME280 to prevent it from being affected.

Thank you for the response.
If the sensor has been exposed to PCBA wash.
Is there any reliability information available?

Hi DTS_User_PM,
If the component of the cleaning solution is anhydrous alcohol, the impact on the sensor is relatively small. If it is other components, we cannot predict the impact on the sensor, as we previously commented, we do not recommend directly exposing the sensor to cleaning solution.

Hello! Hoping we can solve a problem that seems to impact us both. We are building a PCBA for the end customer using similar sensor BMP384 which has a much larger port. We have used this and the sensor you're testing and previously, have been able to produce fully no-clean. The new design must be fully free of all flux due to safety critical epoxy/potting performed. We are having much difficulty finding a solution to seal off the port that withstands our batch wash cycle and chemistry. Did you find a film protective solution that works? Do you mind sharing? Thank you.
