Yes, your understanding is correct. When BMI088 accel is running at normal mode with 1600Hz ODR, the 3dB bandwidth is 280Hz for x/y axes and 254Hz for z axis. If the frequency of the robot swing is greater than 280Hz, the corresponding data will be attenuated in the chip and output to your MCU because of the low pass filter inside the chip. And if the frequency is 200Hz, the BMI088 can acquire about 10 data points in one signal cycle because the swing motion signal can pass through.
