Hi all,
I am part of a design house that's helping one of our clients with the development of a new product.
We are using two Bosch magnetometers (BMM150) in our design.
The datasheet does not provide particular guidelines for the layout of this component.
We would like to know if there are any precautions to be observed during the placement and routing of this part.
Do these magnetometers need to be away from antennas?
Do we have to keep them close to other components in the design?
Is there a suggestion for the GND plane of this component ?
Any other recommendations in terms of interferences?
Any general recommendations?
Thank you in advance for your help,
Andrea

Hi AndreaFusion,
Do these magnetometers need to be away from antennas?
Reply: yes
Do we have to keep them close to other components in the design?
Reply: keep a certain distance with other components
Is there a suggestion for the GND plane of this component ?
Reply: don't lay copper or wire on the PCB on the back of the sensor package, it should be empty.
Any other recommendations in terms of interferences?
Reply: constant currents on the PCB cause a constant offset on the sensor signal. The greater the wire current on the PCB, the farther the sensor should keep from the wire. And try to reduce the use of magnetic materials, such as strong magnetic attraction.
Any general recommendations?
Reply: you can refer HSMI document "Handling, soldering & mounting instructions" from https://www.bosch-sensortec.com/products/downloads/, you can find recommendations, like "keep a reasonable distance from any thermal hot spots", etc.
