Hello, im trying to creat a device to monitor water level of Dam. My strategy is to put sensor in buoy floating on the surface of water. The problem with BMP280 sensor is that the altitude has changed while the object is kept static. I read that BMP280 pressure reading is affected by weather (temperature). Is there are a solution for this ? How can i monitor altitude change precisely ?

Hello sambaga,
When put sensor in buoy floating on the surface of water, the sensor will swing in the water. How much has the altitude changed with different weather?

Hello Robin, thanks for replying.
I haven't tried putting it on water yet. I'm still in design & planning stage. So far, i only tested the sensor on my home putting the sensor static in a table for 3 days and the altitude change drastically (40m - 80m). As for the water, the Dam has pretty calm water condition. Also, i dont mind a little inaccuracy as long the objective is carry out.
Anyway, i read about the solution on internet that i can put 2 BMP sensor on same level (1 on water and 1 on land), then calculate the altitude difference between 2 BMP. Will that work ?

Hello sambaga,
You could calibrate the BMP280 with the standard barometer, and then calculate the altitude difference according to the pressure change. It is not recommended to use two barometers to measure the height difference.
