Hello,
I am trying to figure out if there is any way to distinguish between a BHI260AB and a BHI260AP, once they are out of the reel.
From what I can tell, the contents of the CHIP ID register (either 0x70 or 0xF0) are the same for both parts, and both parts have the same physical size and package markings. Is there any other way to differentiate the two of them?

Hi sullivanmj,
The marking and chip IDs of BHI260AB and BHI260 are different.
Please note BHI260AB was not recommended for new design.

Thank you for the information. I am dealing with BHI260AB, not BHA260AB, though. Per the datasheet, the BHI260AB will also return 0x70 or 0xF0.
The reason I am asking is to figure out which firmware image I need to program, as I am using up stock of BHI260AB, and migrating to BHI260AP. However, if either BHI260AB firmware is forward-compatible, or BHI260AP firmware is backward-compatible, then it may not matter if I can distinguish between the two of them.

Hi sullivanmj,
You can ask your supplier to check if they are providing you with BHI260AB or BHI260AP.
BHI260AB and BHI260AP use different firmware and are not compatible. If you use BHI260AB, you can use the earlier version of the firmware. For example: "V1.3.0\BHY2-Sensor-API-master\firmware\bhi260ab".
