In the BME688 sensor datasheet it is stated that sensor was tested (among other gasses) with carbon monoxide (CO). Since there is no direct output from BSEC that would correspond to carbon monoxide, is it possible to detect CO by means of other (output) virtual sensors? For example, would increase in carbon monoxide result in increase/decrease of raw gas resistance output? Or would any other output need to be used for this purpose? Are there any documentation that provide the measuring and possibly calibration process that would help users of BME688 detect specific gasses like Carbon monoxide?

I'm having hard time understanding why does BSEC API documentation show a sequence diagram that differs from the sequence of code execution provided by the BSEC example (from the folder in BSEC 2.4.0. download file). This is the sequence diagram from BSEC documentation: As shown on the picture, the pseudo code could be written as the following code: if (current_time_ns >= sensor_settings.next_call)

Thank you Robin, I guess I overlooked this description from BSEC documentation. I have only one more question in regard to sensor calibration. I have noticed that one of the provided BSEC examples (for Arduino, namely) uses a "hand sanitizer" configuration data for its example. Does this mean that calibration data (given as an array of 1974 bytes) may be modified somehow to adapt BME688 to a specific gas or mixture of gases? Or is there a different approach to calibrate sensors to detect only a specific gas? If there is such approach, how is this done in practice? Luke

Thank you for information Robin. Yes, I'm well aware that source code of BSEC is not publicly available for review. However, I'm merely inquiring about basic's of BSEC operation. That said, I think I understand now what "library internal state" means. Can you tell me more about the sensor callibration as well? What kind of effect does configuration data, such as bme688_sel_33v_3s_4d, have on sensors? And what is meant by 4-day and 28-day calibration setup - at which interval should the sensor be re-calibrated? What happens if sensors aren't configurated using one of the available configuration files at all?

From what I have read on other topics, is calibration data, e.g. bme688_sel_33v_3s_4d, used with bsec_set_configuration() ? What does it do to BME688 default sensor settings? How do the BME688 sensors perform without calibration data? Additionally, is bsec_get_state() intended to be called prior to BME688 device shut-down and be stored in local non-volatile memory and the state of library recalled by calling bsec_set_state() at next BME688 power-up? How does BME688 performance get affected by this additional step? Or rather, how does it behave without it?
