Dear Community, the datasheet says about the register 0x3c: A further test which is running continuously in the background can be checked by reading bit #4 in address GYRO_SELF_TEST. Proper sensor function is indicated if the bit is set to ‘1’. I always read "0" there while the data from Accel and Gyro is fine. I understood that this test runs continuously in background. So, whenever I read that register I expect a "1" to indicate proper functionality. I didn´t trigger the self test bit. The BMI085 runs at 200Hz, normal mode. Everthing is fine but I´d like to use that bit 4 as a safety check. Any ideas? Thank you!

Dear Community, The problem is regarding the IMU BMI270 (shuttleboard) which I cannot read via SPI (4wire). I have a BMG250 where I can read the CIP_ID register properly. I use the same code to read the BMI270 CHIP_ID register but the response of the Chip is zero (checked with an oscilloscope). Is there a significant difference regarding the SPI communication setup procedure between both devices? Thank you! Thanks for the response! Regarding the "mechanical lowpass filter": Can I achieve the same suppression capability with the BMI085 by simply setting it to a lower bandwidth and sampling rate, e.g. 200Hz? The vibration suppression of the BMI088 is in the higher frequency range (several hundred Hz), therefore, I would expect such frequencies to be suppressed by the BMI085 as well if it runs at a low bandwidth. Dear community, I learned from the forum here that there are some differences between the BMI085 and BMI088. Please clarify the following. Thank you! 1) What does the higher vibration robustness and suppression of the BMI088 mean? Does it affect the accelerometer or the gyroscope? 2) The BMI088 is trimmed for higher g-values. Does it influence the accuracy or offset at 1g gravity in comparison to the BMI085? 3) The BMI085 does have a synchronization feature of the acc-data and the gyro-data. Does it exists on the BMI088 as well?
