BMP390 oversampling rate and resolution

Hello, Guys

In BMP390 datasheet states that setting the double sampling frequency of pressure will increase 1 [bit] of the resolution (Shown below)

But in the document from Silicon Labs "IMPROVING ADC RESOLUTION BY OVERSAMPLING AND AVERAGING"

It said that the sampling frequency must be multiplied by 4 to acheive extra 1 [bit] resolution

I'm carious about is there a bridge to connect these equations or they are just two different technique?

BMP390 has not disclosed its technical implementation, so we cannot compare the formula you mentioned.
