Hello,
I'm noticing in my bmeraw files as well as my data output from a single BME688 sensor that while running different heater profiles with a duty cycle of 1:0 that I am seeing every so often the gas resistance value: 102400000.000000 on step index zero (and sometimes index 1). I don't believe this is normal as the previous values before it are much smaller. Is there any explaination for why this might be happening?
I have tried five different 8-sensor development kits and two seperate breakout boards with the BME688 and I still see this value output in my data when running with a duty cycle of 1:0. I am assuming this might be due to the profile transitioning so quickly from the last step index temperature back to the first, but I've also tested this using the default config that comes with the dev kits and see the same thing.
All of these sensors have undergone a 72hr burn-in period, but I am still wondering, do I need to allow the sensors to run 5 minutes before I can assume I am receiving genuine data?
Any insight into this anomaly would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your reply! I actually am using the official code from the Bosch GitHub repository on my ESP8266 for the single sensor kit, and for my 8 sensor devkits I am using the provided software for those.

1.02E+08 is equal to 8.0103 in Log10 format. So on both sensors I am seeing these same values. I see the same values with the new kit too, but not as observably prevalent as I do between these two.
I'm begininning to think these sensors have gone bad now that I have this new kit which is not showing this same behavior. Any thoughts from BST on this?

We see the first test using heater_301, the second test using other profiles?
In the second test, did the same value appear in 'R0 or R1' of Brand New? We didn't see it in the table from yours
We need more information about comparative verification. Such as same heater profiles, different sensors and different boards or different heater profiles and same boards, etc.
And what the above mentioned, Did it work well before? when and what cause it.
After that, we can judge if there is something wrong with the sensors.

I reached out to a contact within BST (Florian) and he arranged some engineers (Mary and Muhammad) to take a look into this anomaly with me.
Based on their observations they believe this saturation may be caused by a number of reasons such as direct contamination, topics like sensor aging, heater profile settings, individual sensor history, specimen composition and concentration.
However, these sensors/devkits were not that old (maybe 3-4 months old), and I was using the default profile. But they assured me this was something they have seen before and it may also just be the calibration of the sensor and it's sensitivity to something in the background air composition.
I performed a few additional tests after that meeting to determine if this may have been saturation due to something in the background air composition. So I exposed the sensors to some smoke from incense, as well as coffee, and I still saw these saturated values.
At that point I decided to replace the devkits in my setup with new ones as well as a new single sensor. It appears the saturated values still do appear occassionally, but not as much as with what I was seeing in the data I provided above.
I suspect Muhammad may be right that with longer burn-in of the sensor it may be that it is more sensitive to something in the air composition of the environment I am testing in. Although, I also suspect that the substances I am testing with may also be causing this.
I'll continue to observe this behavior and if it gets really bad as before I will follow-up here on the forum in case it might help others. For the time being we are allowing these saturated values to coexist in our datasets, but we will likely be pruning the data in areas where it is constantly appearing.
